Jonathan Vogt
Writer. Designer. Storyteller.
I am a professional writing graduate from Champlain College. I am a writer at heart, but my eyes are set on mediums beyond the pen and paper.
Video games and interactive media are the future of storytelling. In Slay the Dragon, Robert Bryant and Keith Giglio write, "Storytelling and video games should be peanut butter and chocolate. They should go together smoothly and creamily", and I can't agree more. (For the record, I hate peanut butter; I hope this does not mar your opinion of me.)
Team work is pivotal in the game industry: working with artists, programmers, and designers on a number of projects (most notably Stray: The Wayward Path) has taught me that in spades.
Champlain College has taught me to write competently across a diverse range of mediums. My specialization in screenwriting taught me to pen believable dialogue and gave me an eye for narrative structure and development. I’ve conceptualized, outlined, marketed, and QA’d games, as well as harmonized interactive narrative with level, system, and content design.
Now to humanize myself: I like cats, my favorite color is lavender, and Resonance by Home is God's gift to man. My favorite games include Halo 2, Undertale, and Ori & the Blind Forest. Don't even get me started on the Elder Scrolls franchise. Meanwhile, The Arbiter, Martin Septim, and Princess Zelda are my favorite video game characters.
